The province’s police watchdog is looking into a shooting involving Chatham-Kent Police over the long weekend.
Officers were called just before 11 o’clock Sunday night about a man armed with guns at the intersection of Laurentia Drive and Rose Avenue in Tilbury. Police arrived to find the suspect wielding a crowbar outside his home.
According to the Special Investigations Unit, a taser was deployed to try to subdue the accused, but when that didn’t work a firearm was discharged.
Officers at the scene provided first aid until paramedics arrived and the 62-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The SIU has assigned four investigators and three forensic investors to the case.
