A Blenheim man is facing a long list of charges in connection with a stolen motorcycle.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers stopped a motorcycle that was being driven without a licence plate on King Street in Chatham at around 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, and discovered the vehicle had previously been reported stolen. The driver was also in possession of a suspended driver’s licence
When police attempted to arrest the driver, he tried to flee. However, he was eventually taken into custody. Police seized a prohibited weapon during the arrest.
As a result, a 40-year-old Blenheim man is now charged with obstructing a peace officer, resisting a peace officer, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of stolen property under $5,000, three counts of driving while under suspension, driving without licence plates, and driving without an ignition interlock device.
He was later released from custody and will answer the charges in court next month.
