Slight Dip In CK’s Active COVID Cases

Another slight dip in COVID cases in Chatham-Kent. The Public Health Unit is announcing 11 new cases today, but with 12 recoveries that brings the total number of active infections down to 103.

Two area residents who were being treated for the virus at the Health Alliance have now been discharged.

Public Health has cleared an outbreak at Riverview Gardens – the only long term care facility left in outbreak mode in the municipality is Fairfield Park in Wallaceburg.

One of the workplace outbreaks has now been cleared as well, leaving 9 workplaces on the books. There are also still two outbreaks in congregate living settings.

Across Ontario, 46 more deaths are being blamed on COVID-19. The province is reporting only 1913 new infections today, however Health Minister Christine Elliott says the numbers are lower than expected, citing under-reporting from Toronto Public Health because of a technical issue.

In the surrounding areas, Windsor-Essex announced 173 new cases and 15 more deaths linked to the virus.

Lambton County is reporting 28 new cases today. Public Health in the region says 44 cases are now resolved, bringing the total number of active infections down to 223.
