Damage is pegged at around $200,000 following a house fire in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue said firefighters responded to the blaze at a single-family raised-ranch home on West Street shortly after 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Upon arrival, fire crews could see visible flames on the exterior rear side of the house, with the fire extending into the attic.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before checking for additional hot spots, however, the home sustained significant damage.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
