What’s being billed as a business incubator is hitting the ground running in downtown Chatham.

Founder Prashant Pathak says SOAR Innovation is a non-profit group with a vision of helping entrepreneurs take their business to the next level.

“This we created more as an opportunity where the community would have a space to create, incubate, and basically build up made-in-Chatham business opportunities which will enable a local entrepreneur to build a company they can house in Chatham and go anywhere in the world from,” Pathak says.

The facility, located in the Daily Planet building on King Street offers co-working space of 28 desks and four private offices, as well as business mentorship, investment programs, and potential for corporate collaborations.

Mayor Darrin Canniff says it’s a great opportunity for local entrepreneurs. “It brings us into the 21st century, this provides the ultimate opportunity for someone with a great idea to come in here and let it blossom.”

Future plans include networking events for entrepreneurs, practical presentations based on member’s needs, and Demo Days; a Chatham-Kent pitch competition that will award funding towards innovative ideas and businesses.
