When it comes to finding a job, soft skills are important.
That’s according to the 2016 EmployerOne Survey results, which were released yesterday providing a snapshot of what’s going on in Chatham-Kent’s labour market.
Karen Debergh, President of the Wallaceburg and District Chamber of Commerce says there’s a little bit of a disconnect.
“It’s always a double-edged sword,” Debergh explains. “People say there’s no jobs in Chatham-Kent and then the employers are saying we don’t have the workforce to fill them. So what we have to do is figure out how to close that gap.”
About two-thirds of companies that took part in the EmployerOne survey reported that they are planning to hire in 2017.
