Wet weather is causing problems at the International Plowing Match in Huron County.
The ground around the tented city was inundated with rain yesterday, and officials say it will be closed to the public today for the safety of not only people attending the match, but the safety and preservation of the land itself.
A statement was released last night, reading “Our lives – who we are – comes from this land – and by opening the gates tomorrow we would not be stewards of the land for the future – a foundation of the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo.”
Some aspects of the IPM, including the 4H Invitational Show are being relocated in the meantime, and the tented city will reopen tomorrow.
