The Bluewater Ferry in Sombra is closed indefinitely.
An icebreaker broke a large sheet of ice yesterday, which pushed it way onto the dock and caused extensive damage.
The ferry has now been grounded for at least a year.
Reports say the cost to repair the dock could be as high as $4-million.
