Good news for homeowners in Wheatley and Tilbury.

Officials with the Public Utilities Commission say outdoor water restrictions put in place on April 25 have now been lifted for all customers, residential and commercial, on the municipal water supply in both communities.

PUC Director of Operations, Karen Burgess, says a temporary water treatment system is now up and running, which has alleviated some of the pressure on the system.

Lawn watering restrictions remain in place, including all irrigation uses and other non-essential uses of the potable water supply.

In the meantime, work continues on rebuilding the Wheatley Water Treatment Plant, which was damaged by fire in September, 2023, with hopes of having it back in full operation by August.
