A motorcyclist has learned the hard way that getting away from police in the short term, doesn’t mean they won’t catch up you later.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said an officer on patrol spotted a motorcycle driving at a high rate of speed on Lacroix Street shortly before 3 p.m. on Monday. The officer’s Automated Licence Plate Recognition system was able to identify the plate of the vehicle, as well as the registered owner.
The motorcycle was found hidden in some bushes on Keil Drive a short time later.
Following an investigation, police identified and arrested a suspect.
A 20-year-old Chatham man is now charged with dangerous operation, flight from police, driving while under suspension, and stunt driving. He will answer the charges in court in September.
