SPORTS TALK is brought to you by the Chatham-Kent Sports Network

The OHL comes to town this week! The Sarnia Sting host the Soo Greyhounds Thursday night from Chatham’s Memorial Arena. There are still tickets available for the pre-season tilt. Tickets can be purchased at the door for only $10. Puck drop is 6:30 on Thursday night.

It was a double dose of double OT for the Chatham Maroons to open the GOJHL regular season during Showcase Weekend in Pelham. The Maroons tied Niagara 5-5 after double OT in a game that saw new captain Maddux Rychel score a hat trick. On Sunday, Chatham fell 3-2 to Listowel in double OT. Rychel finished the Showcase weekend with a province-leading six points.

Sarnia was 1-1 in weekend play, beating Buffalo 4-2 and dropping a tight one to Caledonia by a 4-3 final.

The Maroons and Legionnaires meet Thursday night in Sarnia. 7:10 start time.

Wins were tough to come by locally in PJHL pre-season play over the weekend, UNLESS you’re the Wallaceburg Thunderhawks. The former Lakers picked up their second ‘W’ of the pre-season against Port Stanley, this one in overtime. Anthony Acchoine scored the winner on the powerplay, just 7 seconds into OT.

Congrats to Chatham’s Armstrong Academy of Martial Arts, who have become the first Rafael Lovato Jr affiliate in Ontario and only the third in Canada. The Lovato Jiu-Jitsu team is one of the top in the U.S.

Join us every week for CK Sports Talk with Peter Cobb, Pete McCarter and Tanner Havens – Monday nights just after the 6PM news.
