TUNE IN THIS WEEK FOR CHATHAM’S ELLIOTT MILLSON AND HIS NEW ALBUM “FOREST FOR THE TREES” ON THE #SPOTLIGHT – HEARD DAILY AT 9:30AM DURING XS MORNINGS WITH JAY & ROBYN!
Elliott Millson is one of Chatham-Kent’s newest and youngest talents on the rise.
A graduate of UCC The Pines, the 20-year-old Millson is not just a singer-songwriter, but an artist every sense of the word.
A very keen sketch artist and graphic designer, Elliott is now completing his third year in the Game Art program at George Brown College with hopes on becoming a gaming artist while continually moving forward with his music craft.
Millson is mainly passionate about creating digital concept pieces but also dabbles in portraits, piano, guitar, singing and song writing.
With eyes on a new summer single and an additional EP, Millson has recently released his first full length album, Forest For The Trees, a follow up to his debut EP Aartist’s Palate.
Written and produced over three years, The Forest for the Trees began as a concept to incorporate nature themed metaphors, and ended as a self reflective project that detailed a difficult time in Elliott’s life. Some songs revolve around commonly known phrases that communicate simple ideas, such as “Fish in the Sea” and “Birds & the Bees” but are written in a nuanced way that aligns with my feelings and experiences. From start to finish, this album shows continuity both in it’s cinematic sound through use of guitar, strings and piano, and it’s saddened narrative through persistent lyrics of loneliness, pain, and self discovery.
In 2020, Millson wrote, produced and recorded six tracks for the previously released debut EP “Aartists Palette”, followed by an impressingle single release “Fresh Clothes”. The EP, much like Millson himself, seems to be wise beyond its years and a little ahead of its time. Even more impressive, is that the then 18-year-old produced, mixed and mastered the tracks himself (self taught) at home using Garageband. Millson says the colourful tracks (literally) all detail different aspects of his teenage life.
