The Long Lots are a Chatham, Ontario based Blues/Rock band. Comprised of vocal powerhouse Jay Amerlinck, guitarist Gary Jongbloed, keyboardist and backup vocalist Glenn Smith, and the O’Rourke brothers anchoring the rhythm section with Jason on drums and Jeff on Bass.
In 2007 brothers-in-law Jay and Gary and brothers Jeff and Jason formed a family jam-band. The only problem was everyone was a guitarist. Gary and Jay had been playing together already for years and had an established groove and naturally complimentary guitar styles. That meant Jeff and Jason would have to adapt. Jeff picked up the bass and has the melodic style of a lead guitarist, and brother Jason picked up the drums and has since carved out his own style of percussion that between the two of them has made a tremendous impact towards defining the Long Lots sound.
Over the years the band developed a reputation in Southwestern Ontario for delivering memorable, hard-driving live shows. The band has opened for some of Canada’s biggest national acts – including Sloan twice and band favourite The Arkells. They also opened for The Doors and Theory of a Deadman, and to great reviews.
The band released a 5 song EP “In The Valley of Our Hearts” in 2011, and has received radio play in the province for their songs “Dirty Blues” and “Dead and Gone” from the EP.
Shortly after that release, the band expanded by bringing in keyboardist and backup singer Glenn Smith. Glenn plays a utility position in the band – also playing slide guitar on two tracks for the latest release “Deep Secret”, as well as contributing harmonica and tambourine.
