#SPOTLIGHT: The MacQueens

FROM KITCHENER-WATERLOO, “THE MACQUEENS” ARE FEATURED THIS WEEK IN THE #SPOTLIGHT – HEARD DAILY AT 11:30 AM DURING WEEKDAZE WITH JAY. THE NEW SINGLE “I WONDER” IS AVAILABLE NOW!

“I Wonder” was written in the early days of the pandemic, but it asks questions that continue to linger today and likely into the future. Questions about what’s next, about the kind of world we are building together. It blends influences from the 80s synth universe with cool indie vibes and big vocals. The result is a richly layered hopeful track with great energy that ponders big questions.
The MacQueens are Kris and Livia MacQueen, a Canadian married music duo known for compelling songwriting, rich vocal harmonies and intricate instrumentation. Music making has been a longtime pursuit for both Kris and Livia, but separately until 2016. At that point, after 15 years of marriage, they decided to ante up on their life partnership and become creative partners too.
In 2018, The MacQueens got serious and got up on stage over 100 times, performing every chance they could, at open-mics, pub shows, local concert halls, house-concerts and more. Performing together immediately felt magical. It just worked. The songs breathed. Over and over again, The MacQueens encountered reactions from audiences that cemented what the duo felt intrinsically: Kris and Livia were meant to make music together.
As 2018 started to come to a close, the husband and wife felt drawn to get into the studio. The songs were asking to be recorded. They hired good friends and amazing producers, Joshua Ray and Karl Anderson of Anchour Studio in Maine. In March of 2019, Kris and Livia travelled to Wyndham, Maine and spent 75 hours over 7 days capturing 10 songs in the studio that they are immensely proud of.
In the summer of 2019, The MacQueens released “You & Me & Everything”, their first full length album, which gained airplay at more than 45 local and campus radio stations across the country, as well as the CBC.
