Tommy Gresty, born and raised in Chatham-Kent, is one of this area’s country music singer-songwriters to keep an eye and an ear on!
From Merlin, Tommy grew up in the same small town as Canadian Country Music Hall of Famer Michelle Wright. Gresty says he’s always dreamed of becoming a recording artist , but his own insecurities held him back.
His wife (Marlena) snuck a video of Tommy singing onto Facebook, and the cat has been out of the bag ever since.
Tommy also credits Common Ground Acoustic Cafe in Ridgetown for helping him out in the early stages. Common Ground was the location of Gresty’s first live performance and helped get the attention of Gatta Creative’s Ben Srokosz, who has produced the new single “Take It For You”.
Gresty made it through the first two rounds of Canadian Idol in 2016 and then decided to walk away from music. Until now. Tommy is now showing his kids that it’s never too late to make your dreams come true.
Gresty began writing original material in 2020 and has released three tracks, all available now on major streaming platforms.
