What once started out as 2 great friends who shared the same passion to write and perform original music, has now grown into 4 Super Friends!
In 2008 Joel Morningstar and Kenny Phelps decided to pick up some acoustic guitars and see what might transpire… The connection was instant and the songs just seemed to pour out. Real life songs, the good, the bad and everything inbetween. Something just clicked and in 2010, Truckstop Super Friends released their debut self-recorded album; “Heres To You”.
After performing at some very memorable events and having the experience of touring across Canada , Joel and Kenny released their second album, “The Journey” in 2012. It wasn’t long after however that they took a 5 year hiatus.
It was in 2017 when they reunited and started writing and performing again. However, they felt the new songs deserved a fuller sound. That was then quickly acheived by adding Matt Wellman and Scott Sherman to the mix. This addition instantly proved to create much fuller and more beat-driven acoustic/rock songs. With catchy new grooves, solos and 3 part vocal harmonies, it helped generate a whole new sound for TSSF. It has also allowed some of the older songs to really come to life now as well.
Here in 2022, Kenny remains on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, Joel is on acoustic bass and vocals, Matt is on lead electric guitars and vocals, and Scott has taken on the roll of drums.
When covid suddenly halted the live music scene, the Super Friends decided to use that time as an opportunity to self-record a third album; “Distilled”, which will officially be released on March 25, 2022.
