Last year Chatham-Kent spent just under $900,000 to make renovations and improvements to their 10 arenas. At tonight’s council meeting, council will look at approving spending over $1.2 million on various projects in the local arenas in 2022. The money for the life cycle projects will come out of reserves.

Council will also look at approving life cycle projects for the municipality’s parks, halls, indoor and outdoor pools, trails and splash pads.

Chatham-Kent has 10 arenas with an average age of 50 years old. There hasn’t been a new arena built in Chatham-Kent since Brian Mulroney was Prime Minister.
