St Clair Cleanup

A plan to clean up a trouble spot in the St. Clair River is being discussed Wednesday afternoon in Wallaceburg.

St. Clair Region Conservation Authority officials will be in Wallaceburg from 12:30 until 2:30 pm at the Municipal Office discussing the design plans to clean up a toxic sediment deposit from Sarnia to Stag Island.

The sludge is believed to be from the former Dow Chemical Plant.

Removing the sediment is expected to cost more than 30 million dollars.

The conservation authority is heading up the design project, which is expected to take 2 years.

A similar meting is being held tomorrow night form 6-8pm at the Courtright Fire Hall.
