Officers were called to a Stanley Avenue home Monday evening, but say the incident happened the day before.

Neighbours in the area then told police shots had been fired as well.

Officers surrounded the home and after an hour of negotiations, police say the accused surrendered. Authorities say the accused was found carrying several rounds of ammunition and methamphetamine, and a search of the home uncovered a taser and sawed-off rifle.

The 43-year-old suspect is now facing several charges, including four counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, and drug possession.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
