A heavy police presence in a quiet northeast Chatham neighbourhood earlier this week appears to have been much ado about nothing.

Numerous police vehicles and officers in tactical gear swarmed a Tasan Crescent home shortly before 7 o’clock Tuesday evening and blocked off the road for over an hour.

Chatham-Kent Police believed a young man who was wanted in connection to an incident in another jurisdiction was inside the residence. Authorities would not release details on which police service had been looking for the accused, or what crimes had been committed.

Local officers received judicial authorization for the CKPS Intelligence Unit and Emergency Response Team to enter the home and search for the suspect, but officers came up empty handed.

Authorities say at no time was there a threat to public safety.
