As the Canadian Plowing Championship wraps up, a local farmer is getting some high praise.
Matthew Sterling from Pain Court was crowned the Junior Canadian Conventional Champion, 2022 Junior Champion Plowmen, and recipient of the Junior Scholarship of $1000 to help with his post-secondary education.
Sterling now advances to the Senior Conventional Class at the Ontario International Plowing Match.
It’s just the latest honour for the teen, who won the Class 2 Group 2 Reserve Championship at the 2019 IPM, and named the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce 4H Member of the Year at the Rural Urban Awards that same year.
The 2022 Canadian Plowing Match was held in Riverdale, Manitoba. Next year’s event is slated for Chilliwack, BC.
