A Chatham man is in hot water after being caught driving a stolen vehicle.

Shortly after 8 o’clock Wednesday morning, an OPP officer on patrol spotted the car driving on Communication Road and the cruiser’s Automated Licence Plate Recognition system identified the vehicle as stolen.

While trying to pull the driver over, the vehicle crashed into a fence on Silvana Drive.

The driver then fled on foot, but was chased down and taken into custody.

The 34-year-old is now charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, drug possession, five counts of driving while prohibited, and two counts of driving while suspended.

The accused was remanded into custody following a bail hearing.
