Charges have been laid after a woman driving a stolen vehicle lead police on a chase through Chatham-Kent.

Police responded to a stolen vehicle complaint in Tilbury on Saturday and say the vehicle was spotted heading into Chatham a short time later.

Two Chatham-Kent Police cruiser were used to initiate a ‘Rolling Block’, a maneuver designed to blocking a vehicle’s path and forcing it to slow down and eventually stop.

Authorities say the suspect vehicle rammed one cruiser and sped through a red light at an intersection. The suspect vehicle then hit another motorist and came to a stop.

Luckily, no one was seriously hurt.

Investigators say driver, a 30-year-old Tilbury woman, was intoxicated by drugs.

She’s been charged with vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, dangerous driving, flight from police, two counts of failing to stop after an accident, two counts of driving while prohibited, obstructing police, and impaired driving.

The woman was held in custody for a bail hearing.
