A pair of local residents are in hot water after a vehicle was stolen in Chatham.
Shortly before 5 o’clock Monday afternoon, Chatham-Kent Police say a woman was offered a ride, but when she was left alone in the vehicle for a moment, hopped into the driver’s seat and drove off.
The accused was found moments later with a man in the passenger seat. Authorities say the woman was suspended from driving and was under a court order not to associate with the man.
A 26-year-old Zone Township woman was charged with two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking and driving while suspended.
A 19-year-old Chatham man was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for a theft and possessing stolen property.
Both of the accused were released from police custody with conditions and future court dates.
