A secondary school initiative has helped to ensure students in need have access to basic hygiene items.

Students in the school’s Leadership Course at Wallaceburg District Secondary School (WDSS) have wrapped up their “Community Kindness” campaign, which focused on collecting essential hygiene products.

From April 28 to May 16, donation boxes were placed at businesses and organizations throughout the community, allowing individuals to drop off new, unopened hygiene products such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, and feminine hygiene products.

Thanks to the initiative, a wide range of hygiene products were collected and used to restock the student pantry in the HUB at WDSS to support those who face challenges obtaining them.

Throughout the fundraiser, WDSS students took charge of the initiative by connecting with community partners, preparing and distributing collection boxes, promoting the campaign, and more.
