Stunt Driving Charges Laid On Hwy. 401

A pair of drivers are facing several charges after allegedly getting caught driving at excessive speeds on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.

The Ontario Provincial Police said the first driver was stopped in the westbound lanes on July 4 at around 10 p.m. and the second was stopped in the westbound lanes near the Victoria Road exit on Sunday at around 8 p.m.

Both vehicles were clocked driving at more than 50 km/h over the 100 km/h speed limit.

As a result, an 18-year-old Milton resident and a 24-year-old from Kitchener are both charged with stunt driving, driving without insurance, failing to surrender a licence and failing to provide a permit.

The two drivers were also issued a 30-day driver’s licence suspension and their vehicle will be impounded for 14 days.
