Stunt Driving On Highway 401 Leads To Charges

Two drivers have had their vehicles impounded after they were pulled over for excessive speeding in Chatham-Kent.

The Ontario Provincial Police said on November 7 at around 1:37 p.m., officers stopped a passenger vehicle on Highway 401 after it was clocked speeding at 164 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.

Later the same day at around 11:23 p.m., officers stopped another vehicle on Highway 401 travelling 77 km/h over the 100 km/h speed limit.

As a result of those incidents, a 26-year-old Belle River resident and a 21-year-old from Chatham are charged with stunt driving. Both drivers have also been issued a 30-day driver’s licence suspension and their vehicles will be impounded for 14 days.
