A special walk will make its way through downtown Chatham over the noon hour on Saturday.

The event, organized by Come Together CK, aims to raise awareness about suicide.

Spokesperson Gerald Robert, whose son took his own life in 2014, says suicide seems to be a taboo subject, but he and those associated with the Community Shop want to offer help to anyone who needs it.

“We need to open a conversation so others like myself don’t feel alone.”

The walk will begin at noon at the Community Shop behind the former Sears store at the Downtown Chatham Centre, followed by a barbecue.

Everyone is welcome to join.
