More than $25,000 has been raised to support aging residents in Chatham-Kent following a family-friendly fundraising walk.

The Grand Parade brought over 100 people to downtown Chatham on September 17 to raise money for aging adults and the services that exist to assist with daily living.

Family Service Kent, which organized the event, exceeded their fundraising goal by thousands of dollars by raising more than $26,000.

“This event proves that we have a great community that also cares deeply about aging adults and is willing to go over and above to ensure their strengths and capabilities are recognized and upheld,” said Dan Farrow, the executive director of Family Service Kent.

The money raised will go towards CHAP Transportation, which provides accessible door-to-door transportation for aging adults, and Community Counselling programs that offer a safe and comfortable space to discuss concerns and strengthen the ability to make desired changes in one’s life.
