
Police have arrested a Chatham man who was wanted for allegedly choking another person during an argument.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to an assault at a Chatham residence on June 3 after a disagreement between two people turned violent. One person was assaulted, and an item belonging to the victim was also stolen.
The attacker fled the scene before officers arrived, however, following an investigation, police issued an arrest warrant for a 42-year-old Chatham man.
The accused was located at the Chatham courthouse on Grand Avenue West on Monday and arrested. He is now charged with assault by choking, theft under $5,000, and overcoming resistance to the commission of an offence.
The man has since been released from custody and will answer the charges in court next month.
