A Chatham man is facing several charges following a series of vehicle thefts throughout the municipality.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers with the Intelligence Unit conducted a two-month investigation into multiple vehicle thefts that occurred in December and identified a suspect believed to be responsible.

Officers arrested a 22-year-old Chatham man on Afton Drive in Sarnia on Wednesday, before executing a search warrant at a residence on Longwoods Road in Chatham.

As a result, the suspect has been charged with three counts of theft of a motor vehicle, four counts of possession of stolen property, three counts of driving while prohibited, and one count of possession of a weapon contrary to a probation order.

All of the stolen vehicles have also been recovered.

The accused was remanded into custody and transferred to the South West Detention Centre to await his next court appearance.
