
An alleged shoplifter has been arrested five months after a theft from a Chatham business.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service was called to a retail store on St. Clair Street in Chatham at around 9:30 a.m. on September 6, 2025 after a man concealed merchandise and left without making an attempt to pay.
Using surveillance footage, officers were able to identify a suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The 38-year-old Chatham-Kent man was located on Woods Street at around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday and arrested. He is now charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
He was later released from custody with a June court date.
