A Chatham man is in hot water after throwing a bit of a tantrum at police headquarters.

A man was arrested Monday night on St Clair Street in Chatham following reports of a suspicious man in a parking lot.

Police claim the suspect also stole a flashlight and batteries from Home Depot.

The 27-year-old was arrested and charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

However, while in custody, the accused then damaged the mattress in his cell. He’s now facing an additional charge of mischief.
