The province’s police oversight agency is investigating after a man who was allegedly carrying a machete was shot by a police officer in downtown Windsor.
The Special Investigations Unit said officers were called to the area of Wyandotte Street West and Ouellette Avenue Monday afternoon after receiving a report about a person with a weapon.
Following an interaction with officers, one officer shot a 70-year-old man with a Taser and another officer shot the man with his firearm.
The man was taken to hospital and later died.
