A Sarnia man is facing charges after police stopped a speeding vehicle on Highway 40.

The Ontario Provincial Police said an officer patrolling the highway in St. Clair Township spotted a vehicle travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit shortly before noon on Friday.

The officer stopped the vehicle and learned the man behind the wheel had also been suspended from driving and was breaching the conditions of his release.

As a result, the 41-year-old accused was arrested and is now charged with two counts of driving while under suspension, failing to comply with a release order, driving without a permit, and speeding.

He has since been released from custody and will answer the charges in court next month.
