A Windsor man on his way home on Christmas Day is facing several charges after a vehicle was clocked travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.
The Ontario Provincial Police said on December 25 at around 1:30 p.m., officers spotted the vehicle driving 150 km/h in a 100 km/h zone in the westbound lanes of the highway, east of Bloomfield Road.
After stopping the vehicle, police learned that the driver had been violating the conditions of a release order, and he was taken into custody without incident.
As a result, a 50-year-old Windsor man is now charged with stunt driving, driving while suspended, two counts of failing to comply with a release order, and driving while prohibited.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
