Attempting to mislead police about a suspended driver’s licence has led to charges for a Windsor woman.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers stopped a vehicle for a broken headlight on Queen Street in Tilbury at around 7:20 a.m. on Sunday. When police spoke to the driver, she refused to identify herself and attempted to conceal her identity by using items in the vehicle to obstruct the officers’ view.

After refusing to comply with officers several times, the woman was removed from the vehicle and arrested. It was later learned that the woman’s licence had been suspended.

As a result, a 51-year-old Windsor woman is now charged with driving while suspended, obstructing a peace officer, resisting a peace officer, failing to identify herself, and driving without proper headlights.

She was later released from custody with a November court date.
