An alert from a police licence plate scanner has helped to keep a suspended driver off the road.
The Ontario Provincial Police said an officer was on general patrol in Brooke-Alvinston on Inwood Road when they were alerted by his Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system of a possible suspended driver shortly before noon on Tuesday.
The officer stopped the vehicle south of Shiloh Line and arrested the driver.
As a result, a 49-year-old Highgate man has been charged with driving while prohibited, obstructing a peace officer, driving while under suspension, and failing to identify himself.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and will be impounded for 45 days.
The accused will answer the charges in court in April.
