Impaired driving charges have been laid following a traffic stop on Walpole Island First Nation.
An officer with the Walpole Island Police Service spotted a suspicious vehicle on Old Ferry Road at around 6:30 p.m. on Monday and pulled the driver over.
Following an investigation, the driver was arrested and transferred to the Lambton County OPP detachment for further breath tests.
As a result, a 62-year-old Walpole Island man has been charged with impaired driving, driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit, failing to surrender a permit, and failing to provide insurance. He was also issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and his vehicle will be impounded for seven days.
The accused will answer the charges in court in September.
