Swerving Vehicle Leads To Impaired Driving Charges

Impaired driving charges have been laid after police stopped a swerving vehicle in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers received a report about a potentially impaired driver on Keil Drive at around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, after a vehicle was seen swerving and almost colliding with a tanker truck.

Officers located and stopped a vehicle, and noticed the driver was showing signs of impairment. The driver was arrested at the scene and taken to police headquarters for additional breath tests.

As a result, a 46-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit. She will answer the charges in court next month.
