Another local event bites the dust thanks to the ongoing pandemic.

The St Clair Region Conservation Authority has decided to cancel this year’s Sydenham River Canoe and Kayak Race, set for April 28th.

“It’s unfortunate that we are unable to hold the race this year, especially when we are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the SCRCA,” said Melissa Levi, Conservation Education Coordinator, “However, holding the race would not comply with the Ontario government’s emergency stay-at-home orders.”

The race is organized annually as a fundraiser to support local conservation education programs and draws between 80 and 100 participants.

It’s hoped the races will be able to return in 2022.
