The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority and St. Clair Region Conservation Foundation have cancelled the annual Sydenham Canoe and Kayak Race, scheduled for Sunday.
The decision was made this morning when a survey of the area determined that both the start and finish lines were under water.
“Like many water ways in southern Ontario, the Sydenham River has been experiencing high levels and localized flooding caused by the unusually harsh spring storm that impacted our region over the weekend,” said Sharon Nethercott, Race Coordinator, “As a result, site conditions at both the start and finish lines will not be useable in time for the race on Sunday.”
There’s no word on if or when the race could be rescheduled to.
