Taking Another Look at Online Council Streaming

Plans to live stream council meetings are going back to the drawing board. council-chambers

Wallaceburg Councillor Carmen McGregor says the current recommendation for broadcasting the meetings online isn’t what she was looking for.

“If somebody was standing at the podium, you would be able to see them, you would be able to hear them, you would be able to hear what’s going on in the room,” McGregor explains, “but you would not be able to see who was talking, you wouldn’t be able to see any reports that go up on the board, and you would not be able to see the motions or recommendations up on the board, or who voted.”

Instead, she’s asking administration to consider having Cogeco TV broadcast the Monday meetings on the internet, as they already broadcast them on their network.

McGregor says she wouldn’t want to have an outside party compete with the work Cogeco has been doing for years.
