Tampon Tuesday Approaching

The United Way is leading the charge in supporting women in need across the community with Tampon Tuesday.

The goal is to collect tampons, pads, and other feminine hygiene products to donate to area food banks, the Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre, and other organizations that serve women.

Spokesman Brian Armitage says there is a stigma associated with feminine hygiene products.

“Last year we ran this program as a test run and it was very successful and so I had an opportunity to talk to a lot of the food banks, women’s centre. aids support we hit everyone in Chatham-Kent with products afterwards,” says Armitage. “It’s amazing.  It’s one of the #1 items we don’t get.”

Over 750 products were donated last year, and organizers are hoping to beat that this year.

You can drop off donations at the CKXS Studio on James Street any time before next Monday.
