A local landmark is in the running for a North American competition.

Wallaceburg’s newly revamped water tower is one of the contestants for this year’s Tank of the Year calendar from the paint manufacturer, Tnemec (which is cement spelled backwards.)

Officially named the Joseph Shaw Wallaceburg Elevated Storage Tank, the Otter Line structure underwent a $3.7 million dollar rehabilitation in 2022.

Tnemec will select 11 of the 12 winning tanks, with one water tower selected through online votes.

The Pain Court water tower was named the highest-voted Canadian tank in the people’s choice portion of the 2020 contest.

Voting runs through October 13th. The top 12 Tanks of the Year will be announced October 20th.
