Chatham-Kent Police had to resort to a taser to subdue a suspected thief in Chatham.

Officers responded to a break-in in progress at a Park Avenue East business around 6:30 Thursday morning, and found the suspect wielding a butcher’s hatchet.

The man allegedly refused to cooperate with police and was zapped before being taken into custody.

A search of the accused turned up suspected fentanyl.

The 34-year-old is facing several charges, including break and enter, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and drug possession.
