Another day, another picket line for public elementary teachers in Chatham-Kent.

But while ETFO members take part in a province-wide strike, their English Catholic counterparts are ramping up their own job action.

The OECTA says its members will be refusing to cover for absent teachers or principals, which could leave non-teaching staff in charge of some classrooms.

According to a statement from the St Clair Catholic District School Board, report cards are being sent home for students in grades one through eight with marks only, while a brief communication of learning for Kindergarten students, and any previously scheduled parent-teacher meetings will go ahead as planned.

Meantime, Franco-Ontario teachers will be hitting the picket line on Thursday.

Some public high school teachers will be holding a one day strike tomorrow as well, including those in the Greater Essex County Board, however the Lambton-Kent board will not be affected.

All four of the province’s main teachers’ unions have been without a contract since August.
