A local teen has been arrested in connection to a fire at Chatham-Kent Secondary School.

Emergency crews were called to the McNaughton Avenue building the afternoon of October 30 and say a fire had been set in a second floor washroom.

A suspect was identified and on Monday, a 14-year-old was arrested and charged with arson-disregard for human life and arson-damage to property. He was held in custody overnight for a bail hearing.

Meantime, Chatham-Kent Police investigators continue to work with the Lambton Kent District School Board following alleged threats made to CKSS and stress there is no concern for public safety.

Authorities are asking anyone with first hand knowledge of the situation to contact youth officer Constable Kyle Wright at kylew@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600.
