A pair of of rock-throwing teens are facing charges after a scuffle with police.
Chatham-Kent Police were called to downtown Chatham around 12:30 this morning and found four young people near the mall.
Authorities say one teen lunged at an officer and put up a fight as he was being placed under arrest. Reinforcements arrived and the accused allegedly tried to grab the officer’s gun out of its holster and threated to shoot. Eventually taken into custody, police say the suspect gave them a fake name.
The 17-year-old has been charged with assaulting police, disarming a police officer, uttering threats, and obstructing police.
An 18-year-old who police say tried to interfere in the arrest was also taken into custody and was found carrying a knife. He’s been charged with obstructing police and possession of a prohibited weapon.
