Chatham’s TekSavvy came out on top of the big telecom companies in the Supreme Court, and are now asking the high court to implement its decision.

The big companies like Rogers and Bell were appealing a 2019 ruling lowering wholesale internet rates the large companies charge their smaller competitors, but the case was thrown out.

The media conglomerates were also ordered to pay the court costs for TekSavvy. The claims made by the big companies were found to be ” of dubious merit”.

However, the lack of follow through by the CRTC on the 2019 decision is a major concern to the local company as rates remained high and threatened the viability of smaller local providers.

TekSavvy is challenging the lack of action calling it flawed and unreasonable.  The company is examining its business plans
due to this regulatory uncertainty.
